To make reservations, email walter@waltereatshawaii.com or call 391-1550. Reservations are required due to limited class size. Each class runs 3.5 hours.

Cost is $80 per cooking class. Payment is in cash only at the beginning of each class. Fee includes food samples, recipes, and taxes.

Basic Korean Cooking
July 21 Wednesday, 3:30 – 7:00 pm

Korean cooking is simple and easy. Learn the basics of beef bullgogi, BBQ pork, Korean rice dumpling soup (ttuck guek), spicy fried rice cake (ttuck bokki), chap chae, fresh sautéed spicy cucumber (oi moochim), and Korean sauce for raw fish. The simplicity will surprise you.

How To Make Kimchi & Related Dishes
July 22 Thursday, 3:30 – 7:00 pm

Learn how to make kimchi from scratch plus other kimchi related dishes. Fried kimchi; kimchi mandoo (hands-on); kimchi noodles; kimchi chige (kimchi stew); kimchi pancake; kimchi stir fry with pork and tofu; and kimchi fried rice. Learn the secrets of kimchi making and related dishes not mentioned in cookbooks.

July 24 Saturday, 8:30 – 10:30 am

Just like what they tell you on TV food shows, look and explore Honolulu’s Chinatown with all your five senses! Look, smell, touch, and even notice the sound each food sample makes in your mouth as you taste them. Get to know the fruits, vegetables, seafood, meats, herbs and spices used in Asian cooking! Any questions on asian cooking or ingredients are always welcome.

July 24 Saturday, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm

This mouth-watering tour will direct you to what to eat, where to go, how to eat, and how to tell a good place with samples of Asian foods found in Honolulu’s Chinatown. Walter will provide the inside detail on the dishes from his eclectic knowledge of historical, cultural, and food science background. Get the insider’s guide to become a savvy Asian food connoisseur in a day. Comfy walking shoes, an appetite for discovery, and stretchy pants are highly advised!

Make Your Own “Pho”
July 27 Tuesday, 3:30 – 7:00 pm

”Pho”, is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup that is a meal in itself. Secrets will be revealed about how to prepare a superb broth that will surpass some of Hawaii’s best Vietnamese restaurants. In addition, we will prepare summer rolls (goi cuon) and Vietnamese fresh lime soda (soda chanh). The meal will leave an impression on your taste buds forever.

More Ultrafast Meals in 19 Minutes or Less
July 28 Wednesday, 3:30 – 7:00 pm

By request, this class is offered for more quick Asian recipes: Vietnamese wonton soup; Thai chicken curry; Japanese shioyaki fish; Korean spicy squid stir fry with vegetables; Chinese shrimp with lobster sauce; Korean soft-tofu seafood soup; & Chinese paper bag shrimp. You thought first ultrafast meals class was good, this one’s mo’ better. Anybody can join this class. There are no prerequisites-no need to have taken the original Ultrafast Meals class.
